I am pleased to announce that on June 1, 2015, at 12:41 PM, Upper Captiva Fire Protection and Rescue Services District became the newest Advanced Life Support (ALS) provider in Lee County, Florida. Our efforts have been completed; all equipment, personnel, forms, procedures and documentation are now in operation.
This is a major improvement in pre-hospital emergency care and the quality of life for Island residents and visitors. Your family and friends can share a level of confidence that our fire department emergency medical technicians have the skills and the tools necessary to provide state-of-the-art emergency treatment.
On the Fire District side, there are too many people to thank at this time. On the Islander side, I must start with the Friends of The Fire Department, headed up by Gene Murphy. Without the equipment funding campaign, this meteoric advancement in emergency medical care would not have happened.
Thanks again for everyone’s patience as we worked towards the start of our Advanced Life Support emergency medical treatment program, and thanks especially for your financial support this year to make this happen.
